Loren Johnson, age 93, of Madelia, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Madelia Community Hospital in Madelia, MN.
Graveside services will be 2:oopm, Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa.
The family would prefer memorials be directed to the Madelia Community Hospital Foundation or Loren Johnson Estate, 815 1st Street SW, Madelia MN 56062.
Loren Adolph Johnson was born on May 31, 1924 on the family farm in rural Hedrick, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Marie (Miller) Johnson. He grew up in the Hedrick area where he attended the Farson School. Loren served in the Army during WWII. He farmed in the Hedrick area for many years. Loren was united in marriage to Evelyn Westercamp and to this union the couple were blessed with 5 children; David, Anne, Daniel, Miriam and Russell. Loren was an oil jobber for Johnson Oil Company for many years. He retired following Evelyn’s death in 1987. Loren later married Norma Newman who preceded him in death in 1997 and again later moved to Madelia, MN, where he married Theoris Christenson and she preceded him in death in 2016.
Loren loved to restore antique cars and was a member of several antique car clubs as well as the Old Thrashers in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Loren is survived by his children; Anne (Richard) Harris of Durham, NC, Daniel (Zoraida) Johnson of Polk City, IA, Miriam Johnson of Montrose, IA, Russell (Elizabeth) Johnson of Canyon City, CO and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loren was preceded in death by 3 wives, son David and his parents.
