Kenneth Kueker, age 78, of Butterfield passed away on Monday, February 05, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Kenneth Kermit Kueker was born on July 23, 1939 in Truman, MN, the son of Arnold and Luella (Pietsch) Kueker. The family moved to Butterfield when Kenny was a baby, where he was baptized at St. Matthews EV Lutheran Church on September 3, 1939 and later confirmed on March 29, 1953. Kenny attended school in Butterfield graduating in 1957. Kenny served as a sergeant in the National Guard, worked for Ebenga Construction, drove school bus for the Butterfield School District, and worked at Butterfield State Bank. While working at the bank he met Bonnie Mae Rettke. The couple married on September 12, 1964 at St. Paul’s EV Lutheran Church in St. James. They made their home in rural Butterfield where Kenny farmed with his father and later his sons. Kenny served on the church board at St. Matthews, the Watonwan County Fair Board, and was a member of the Odin Saddle Club.
Kenny enjoyed working with horses and cattle as well as harvesting crops, especially combining the corn. He also enjoyed woodworking. He liked to watch the Viking and westerns on TV. Later in life, he loved to watch his sons and grandsons harvest the crop, go for drives and sit at Voss Park with his wife.
Kenny is survived by his wife Bonnie, sons: Brent (Mona), Brad; grandchildren: Shane (Katlyn), Wyatt (friend Mary), Laura (friend Tim), Tyler (fiancé Alexandria); sisters-in-law: Donna Kueker, Marilyn (Larry) Larson, Judy (Jim) Anderson, Sue (Jerry) Dalen, brothers-in-law; Roger (Beth) Rettke, Bruce (Dawn) Rettke, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger and many aunts and uncles.
