Tom Hennager was born on July 15, 1934 to Patrick and Alice Hennager in Grand Meadow, MN. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1952-1954. Following his Honorable Discharge, Tom returned to the Madelia area, where he worked in the livestock trucking industry for several years. In 1957, he married Ardella Neuenschwander (along with adopting her son from a previous marriage), and their union resulted in three more children, one of whom died at birth. They divorced after seven years of marriage. On September 17, 1966, Tom married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Jacobe; the couple was blessed with three children together. Tom and Bev raised the family of six children entirely in the Madelia area, where Tom spent the majority of his life working at several area farms. Farming was Tom’s passion, to the extent that even after retirement he never tired of driving around the countryside to check on the latest conditions of the crops and farms. Tom was a volunteer and mentor in 4-H for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed socializing and making jokes with his friends and family, watching John Wayne movies, camping, and spending time with his children, grandsons, and great-granddaughters.
