Obituary of Dean French
Dean French was born on March 24, 1927, in Page, NE, the son of Clifford and Leona (Stauffer) French. He attended country school for 8 years and graduated from Page High School. He moved to Lamberton following graduation but soon enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he worked at various jobs in the Lamberton area. On September 12, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ila Mae Tetrick at the Lamberton Methodist Church. The couple farmed north and south of Lamberton on various farms until purchasing their own in 1968. In 1976, they moved onto the farm where Dean remained until a year ago. Dean enjoyed raising beef cattle until he was 89 years of age. He also enjoyed bird watching, watching sports, reading, being outside, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their various activities. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lamberton and the American Legion. In his earlier farming days, he served on various boards in the agricultural industry.
Dean died on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Home in Waconia, MN, at the age of 90 years.
Dean is survived by his children - Lee (Joann) French of Lamberton, MN, Vicki (Dr. James) Koewler of Clara City, MN, and Dr. Cindy Esselman of Hamburg, MN: 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings - Thane (Beverly) French of Maplewood, MN, Shirley (Paul) Villano Of Pocatello, ID, Colleen (James)Brush of West Richland, WA, and Gregg (MaryNell) French of Montevideo, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Ila in 1990: and son-in-law Dr. James Esselman.
