Obituary of Loretta Klaus
Loretta Minnie Marie Klaus went to be home with her Father on February 3, 2018 at the age of 86 years and 349 days. Loretta was born on February 19, 1931 to Oscar and Ruth Klatt in Ceresco Township, Blue Earth County. She was baptized on March 8, 1931 by Pastor O. Cloeter at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Willow Creek. Loretta was confirmed on March 25, 1945 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Willow Creek by Pastor Lorenz. On September 27, 1949 Loretta married Herbert Klaus at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Willow Creek officiated by Rev. Mack and moved on to the Klaus Family farm just west of the Willow Creek Church. There she and Herb farmed and took care of Herb’s mother until her death. They were blessed with two sons while living on the family farm. In the early 70’s Herb and Loretta moved to Madelia. Loretta worked at Tony Downs until retiring. Loretta prided herself on being a hard working person. She enjoyed taking long walks, playing cards, doing her embroidery, and quilting. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren and was overjoyed when she finally became a great-grandmother. She was “grandma” to neighborhood children, always making them mashed potatoes or reading them a story book or just taking time to share a cookie with them. In 2012 Loretta moved to the Beacon in Lake Crystal, MN where she spent the remainder of her days with some of the greatest caregivers ever.
Loretta is survived by sons John (Maggie) of Owatonna and Dean (Brenda) of Amboy; 3 grandchildren - Tammy (Paul) Petri of Medora, Indiana, Timothy (Brianna) Klaus of Eagan, MN, Katie (Rick) Smith of Puyallup, WA; 4 great-grandchildren - Abby and Jack Smith, Ellie and Luke Klaus; 2 step great-grandchildren - Mallory and Cedar Petri; 1 sister Luetta Boeck of Lewisville, MN and sister-in-law Julie Grieger of Inver Grove Heights, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Herb, brother Wallace Klatt and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
