Lois Jeanette Ladd was born May 9, 1930 in Home Township, Brown County, the daughter of Ferdinand and Elsie (Frank) Schauman. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School and then the Minnesota Medical Technology School as a Lab Technician. On June 5, 1949, Lois was united in marriage to Hollis Ladd at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Lois had also been baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. Following marriage she worked at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, and later worked at Del Monte and the National Food Store in Sleepy Eye. Lois was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sanborn and a former member of the Baker's Dozen Extension Unit and Grace Lutheran Church. She had also served as secretary for the Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid and enjoyed fishing, painting, reading, cooking, and playing cards - especially pinochle and sheephead. Lois Jeanette Ladd died Sunday, February 27, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 74 years. Survivors include husband- Hollis of Sleepy Eye; sons- Steven and wife Bonnie Ladd of Cambria, MN and Mark and wife Susanne Ladd of Springfield; daughters- Alana and husband Keevin Speckman of Appleton, WI, Holly and husband Robert Mehltretter of North Mankato, and Christine and husband Stephen Anderl of Cottage Grove, MN; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother- Donald and wife Irene Schauman of Buffalo Lake; and sisters- Ruth Messerschmidt of Sleepy Eye, Florence Patterson of Bueno Vista,CO, and Elaine and husband Burt Miller of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother- Edwin; twin brother- Gilbert; and sisters- Arlene Gallant and Dorothy Libby.
