In addition to farming his whole life, LaVern served on several agricultural and community boards, but his true passion was serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This was evident in how he lived his daily life. For many years he taught youth Sunday school, led youth group, and led adult Bible Studies. He served on his church board and other Christian organizations. He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons Tom (Cathy), Jim (Wendy), Mike (Gail); as well as four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. LaVern was profoundly loved and will be deeply missed.
