Obituary of Lee Dahms

Lee Albert Dahms was born February 26, 1921 in New Ulm, MN, the son of Clarence and Meta (Zamzow) Dahms. Lee grew up in the Clements area and attended Country School District #101. He worked for various farmers in the area before entering the U.S. Army in 1942. Lee served with the 320th Repel Squadron while stationed in India. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned home and married Brunelda Schulz on June 6, 1946. The couple farmed in Brookville Township before purchasing a farm in Willow Lake Township. Lee was a farmer at heart, raising dairy cattle, pigs and grain. To this marriage four children were born - Linda, La Vonne, Douglas and Donald. On September 25, 1993, Lee was united in marriage to Zerelda Fennern and the couple lived at the Homestead in Redwood Falls. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of Colburn American Legion Post #286 and enjoyed woodworking and raising livestock. Lee Albert Dahms died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield where he had been a resident since May of 2001. Survivors include wife- Zerelda of Redwood Falls; children- Linda and husband Bryon Berndt of Echo, La Vonne Reese of Sanborn, Douglas and wife Kathy Dahms of Redwood Falls, and Donald Dahms of Parkers Prairie; grandchildren- Jesse and Justin Reese, Tracie and Bob Berg, Tamara and Joe Brown, Yuri and Boni Berndt, Cindy and Chad Dallenbach, Christy Westfield, Tony and Jessica Dahms, Angela and Jeff Morris, and Larry, Ann Marie and Tom Dahms; great grandchildren- Theodore Berg, Julian Brown, Lauren and Linnea Berndt, Chelsie, Chase and Carlie Dallenbach, Alex Westfield, Austin and Kayla Morris, and Gavin Dahms; brothers- Elmer, Leonard, Arthur and Jerry; and sisters- Delores Mertz and Anna Mae Ness. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Donald and Arnold; sister- Meta Thordsen; and son-in-law- Steve Reese.
