Obituary of Sanford Hagen

Sanford M. Hagen was born July 24, 1923 in Albin Twsp., Brown Co., MN to parents Edward and Olga (Finstad) Hagen. He lived his entire life in the rural Godahl area. He attended rural school through the 8th grade, married Shirley on October 17, 1987 in St. James. Sanford raised cattle, then farmed with his brother Irving for a number of years before running his own farming operation. Sanford enjoyed flying his own airplane for years as well as his fishing trips to Alaska and his many hunting trips. He was a talanted woodworker as well. He enjoyed the daily dice games at LaSalle with his many special friends. Sanford Hagen passed away at his home on Thursday, July 6, 2006 he was 82 years old. He is survived by his wife Shirley Hagen of Comfrey, step-children Lenny (Salome) Sargent of St. James, Cathy Hauer of St. James, Lisha Westman of St. James, Valerie Sargent of St. James, Michelle (Tony) Dunn of Lake Benton, grandchildren Sarah Moreno, Matthew and Mark Dunn, Jessica and Melissa Westman, Ethan Hauer, Lydia and Diana Sargent, great-grandchildren David and Ashanti, brother Irving (Shirley) Hagen of St. James, sister EllaDean Anderson of Little Falls and a special nephew Allen "Terry" Hagen of St. James along with many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Kenneth Anderson.
