Obituary of Evelyn Hellickson
Evelyn Barbara Emilie Hellickson was born September 21, 1921 in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, the daughter of Paul and Bertha (Beier) Weber. She attended county school district #29 in Germantown Township and worked for area families. She married Donovan Hellickson on June 22, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Evelyn remained in Sanborn and upon Don's return from serving in the Army the couple farmed south of Jeffers and later farmed near Gibbon. The couple returned to farm nearSanborn until 1954 when they moved to Sleepy Eye and in 1958 returned to Sanborn. They owned and operated the Dairy Queen at the Sanborn Corners for 15 years. Evelyn and Don also cleaned for the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and the School. She was a member of the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Sanborn, Ladies Aid, Sanborn Community Club, and the Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, mowing, baking, cooking, word searches and playing cards. Evelyn died on Tuesday night at her home near Sanborn, MN at the age of 83 years. She is survived by her husband - Don Hellickson of Sanborn; children - Leon and wife Jean Hellickson of Albert Lea, MN, Dale and wife Kristine Hellickson of St. Cloud, MN, and Cheryl and husband Eugene Brown of St. James, MN; 12 grandchildren; 10great grandchildren; a brother - Lester and wife Madalyn Weber of Winthrop; and a sister - Berneatta Schmidt of New Ulm. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers - Lawrence, Alfred, Eddie, Raymond, Orville, and Marvin; and sisters - ElsieKrause, Leona Wendland, and Malinda Wendland.
