Obituary of Arvid Ferdinand Anderson

Arvid Ferdinand Anderson was born August 8, 1920, in Ann Township, Cottonwood County to Oscar and Ida (Fingarson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Walnut Grove. Arvid began farming at the age of 13 until retiring and moving to Lamberton in 2001, yet he continued to help his sons with the farming operations. Arvid was united in marriage to Eunice Nordsiden on August 22, 1946, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He loved music, played the violin, and he and Eunice loved to square-dance. Arvid was an avid woodworker and made several covered wagons and outhouse piggy banks for the museum in Walnut Grove, following in his brother Earl's footsteps. He also made a table and chairs, doll cradles, and other items for his grandchildren. He did wood carvings with his buddies and cut wood into his 90's. Arvid served on the St. Olaf Church Council, the Lamberton Public School Board, Lamberton Farmers Livestock, and was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. He especially loved the time spent with his family.
