William “Bill” Otto Petersen was on born on April 16, 1934, in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County, the son of Otto and Isabelle (Petersen) Petersen. He attended Wanda Public School. Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years, part of his time was spent in Alaska. He was united in marriage to Marsha Wog on August 18, 1962. He operated Petersen Trenching for over 40 years and worked at the Southwest Experiment Station until his retirement. Bill was a member of the Wanda Legion and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lamberton. He enjoyed fishing, horses, playing cards, coffee with his buddies in the morning, and time with family.
Bill died on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls at the age of 82 years.
He is survived by his daughter - Robyn (Mike) Schroepfer of Lamberton; grandchildren - Justin of Wabasso, Kimberly (fiancé Dale Johnson III) of Tracy, Joseph of Sioux Falls, SD, Ryan of Atwater, and Anna of Lamberton; ½ brother - Joe (Linda) Gall of North Mankato; ½ sisters - Rose Fromm of Sleepy Eye, Mary Hoffmann of Morgan, and Kathy Fromm of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces, nephews, and other family. He was preceded in death by parents; wife - Marsha in 2007; son - Jay in 1983; and in-laws - Tom Hoffmann, Edwin Fromm, and Jerome Fromm.
