Obituary of Lena Dick
Lena Helena Dick was born on August 5, 1905 to Kornelia (Peters) and Isaac D. Schultz on a farm northeast of Mountain Lake. When she was about a year old she became sickly and was not expected to live. The Lord gave health and she grew up to become the oldest Minnesota resident. She attended German school, now Mountain Lake Christian School, country school, and also attended the public school for 1 1/2 years. After a few years she attended the Bible Training School, now Crown College, for 2 years graduating in 1927. She accepted Christ as her Savior during tent meetings held in the park in 1920. Rev. Jacob Hooge was the Christian Missionary Alliance evangelist. The Lord moved in a mighty way and many were saved. In 1934 she married Jacob L. Dick and moved to the farm 3 1/2 miles west of Mountain Lake. It was a dry, dusty year. The corn crop produced only 100 bushels. They were active in church, serving on the relief committee, helping with the MCC meat canning, teaching Sunday School and serving on the auxiliary at the Christian School. She made many quilts for her children and grandchildren, also for relief. She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans for her family.
