Obituary of Judith Denn
Judith Nadine “Judy” (Tostrud) Denn was born November 30, 1942 in Westby, WI to Joseph and Ona Tostrud. She graduated from Westby High School in 1960, then attended the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN, graduating in 1963. It was there that she met her first husband, Harland Hansen and they married in 1963. The couple lived in rural Madelia where Judy started her career as Director of Nursing at the Luther Memorial Home. She later worked as a nurse at Madelia Clinic for 40 years. She was very active at Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia, serving as church president, organist and various church board positions. After the death of her first husband, Harland in 1986, Judy married Robert Denn in 1988. They enjoyed traveling, wintering in Arizona, and spending time with their grandchildren.
Judy will be remembered fondly for her love of people and her community. Between her years as a nurse and an active church member in a small town, she knew everyone. Playing cards, meeting for coffee, gathering for pizza and social events were some of her favorite things, but none more than playing with her grandchildren and being with her family.
Judith Nadine "Judy" Denn age 75, of Madelia, MN died on November 4, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Judy is survived by her son, Gary (Karyn) Hansen; step-daughters, Cinda (Brian) Wallace, Dee (Doug) Thomas; her many grandchildren, James and Jared (Robyn) Wallace, Brielle (Jim) Herbst, Hope, Joshua (Shawna) and Robert (Katlyn) Grover, Ashley, David and Zoey Hansen, along with 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harland Hansen; son, Bruce Hansen and second husband, Robert Denn.
