Pamela Louise (Etter) Thomas was born on October 26, 1954 in Madelia, MN. She passed away unexpectedly at the Madelia Community Hospital on November 5, 2018. She was 64 years old.
Pamela Louise "Pam" Etter was born and raised in Madelia, graduating from Madelia High School in 1973. While in high school, Pam had Jason, her first son who was the joy of her life as well as grandpa and grandma Etter’s. On September 14, 1985, Pam was united in marriage to Randy Thomas. They had three more children in four years: Krista, Kyla and Robbie. Pam and Randy later separated.
Pam was an in-home day care provider for more than 20 years and lovingly cared for many children in Madelia as if they were her own. She also worked as a dispatcher at J and R Schugel Trucking in New Ulm. She made many lasting friendships there. She easily bonded with the truckers; she loved them and they loved her. When her children were young, Pam enjoyed camping with groups of friends and their children. In recent years, due to complications of diabetes, Pam’s activities became limited to going to dialysis in New Ulm three times a week and watching her favorite shows on TV. Pam loved spending time with family and friends, whether visiting in person or on the phone. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed sharing a laugh or a story. Pam’s most precious moments were spent with her children, grandchildren, brothers and sister-in-law’s and close friends. Although Pam will be missed immensely, comfort is taken in knowing she is at peace and free of health struggles.
Pam is lovingly survived by her children, Jason (Kristi) Etter of Mankato, Krista Thomas (Eric Cooling) of Madelia, Kyla Thomas of New Ulm, Robert Thomas of Madelia, her four grandchildren Mya and Jude Etter, Jett Thomas and Vivian Cooling. Brothers, Bill (Doneta) Etter of Mesa, AZ, Bob (Carol) Etter of Madelia, Jim (Jan) Etter of Plymouth, MN and sister-in-law, Pat Etter of Mankato. She is also survived by Etter niece and nephews and Thomas brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Pam is preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Edythe Etter and brother, John Etter.
