Lorraine Grayce (Anacker) Hoffman, age 82, passed away on Wednesday February 10, 2021. She was born on August 28, 1938 on a farm west of Darfur to mother, Grace (Johnson) Anacker and father, Albert Anacker. Albert and Grace soon had another daughter, Shirley. Sadly, Albert’s health declined and he passed before Lorraine’s third birthday on July 19, 1941.On November 21, 1942 Grace married Fred Zimmerman and he became “Dad” to Lorraine and Shirley. Fred and Grace had three more children to complete their family: Lucy, Sharon, and Wayne. Lorraine attended elementary school in Darfur and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1956. Following graduation, she worked at The State Bank of Darfur. It was at this time, she met Marvin Hoffman and they were married on November 23, 1957. For a short time, Marvin and Lorraine lived in the apartment above Jaeger General Store in Darfur, now a part of Heritage Village in Mountain Lake. They had two children, Larry and Lisa, before Lorraine started working at the Darfur Implement Company as a bookkeeper in 1962. In 1997, the business merged with Miller Sellner Implement and built a new facility at Bingham Lake where Lorraine worked until retiring on her 65th birthday in 2003. Lorraine and Marvin lived in Darfur until moving to St. James in 2005. In December of 2014, they moved to Mountain Lake where Lorraine was a resident of The Lodge. Eventually, more care was needed, and she moved to The Village. Lorraine enjoyed a full life and lived with Parkinson’s Disease for over 10 years. She was an inspiration to her children and granddaughters. Lorraine enjoyed country music, traveling, and camping. What Lorraine enjoyed most was her granddaughters.
