Melvin Roy Hooge, of Mountain Lake, MN entered into the presence of his Savior and Lord on September 15, 2021. He was 94 years old. He was a resident of Oak Terrace in Mankato, MN. Melvin was born on May 31, 1927, at a farm near Windom, MN, the eldest son of Abraham and Helen (Derksen) Hooge. He was married to Martha (Thiessen) Hooge for 55 years, until her death in 2003. He was married to Ethel (Solomonson) Hooge for 17 years. Melvin attended Windom high school. He worked at Toro manufacturing in Windom for 35 years, where he was recognized as a valuable and skilled laborer, ending his career as a quality inspector. He was an outstanding wood worker and loved carving and assembling wooden models and toys. He was a familiar face at area auctions, collecting Depression Glass and other valuable items for his Hooge Antiques Shop. He and his family were active members of Mountain Lake Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church (now Cornerstone Fellowship), where he loved to sing and worship his Lord and Savior, and where he served as an usher for 60 years. Melvin is survived by his wife, Ethel; daughters Judy (husband Randy) Walter, of Hutchinson, KS; Marilyn (husband Marty) Mauk, of Des Moines, IA; and Carol (husband Bob) Marsh, of Kenney, IL.
