Martha Wollschlager, of Mt. Lake, died on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Mayo Clinic Health Care in Red Wing, MN. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 315 Ninth Street S., St. James, MN 56081. Rev. Jim Renz will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Burial will be at the Butterfield City Cemetery in Butterfield. Martha Josephine Wollschlager, age 61, was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 26, 1960, to Louis and Edna (Munning) Haffner. Martha grew up in Brooklyn. In 1977 she moved to Butterfield, MN, where she graduated from Butterfield-Odin High School in 1978. She was married to Leon Wollschlager, Sr. in Windom, MN on July 25, 1981. Martha and Leon had four children, Brenda, Lisa, Leon Jr, (LJ), and Desiree. In 2020, she moved to West Columbia, TX to be close to her children and grandchildren. In 2021, due to declining health she moved back to Mountain Lake, MN, where she resided at Good Samaritan Village until her passing on January 9, 2022, in Red Wing, MN. Martha worked at several places, prior to doing home daycare for 10 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, coloring and family time. Martha is survived by her husband, Leon Wollschlager, Sr.; daughters, Brenda Lugo (Brian) of Angleton, TX; Lisa (Merritt) Lugo of West Columbia, TX; son, Leon Wollschlager, Jr. (Loni), of Augusta, GA and daughter, Desiree Wollschlager (Adam), of Mountain Lake, MN; son-in-law Joe Lugo, Jr., of Angleton, TX, and sister, Elizabeth Ibarra, of Riverview, FL; 10 grandchildren, Miguel Lugo, Austin Lugo, Justin Lugo, Paije Lugo, Dustin Lugo, Jesse Lugo, Alejandro Lugo, Tristin Lugo, Leon Wollschlager III, and Jacob Wollschlager; 2 great-grandchildren (Ryder and Emma) along with 3 nieces and a nephew. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
