James Allan Zimmerman was born on September 25, 1954, to Herbert and Leona (Brown) Zimmerman in Windom, MN. He graduated from Sanborn, MN. Jim delivered the New Ulm Journal and shopper papers for over 25 years and enjoyed working at Basset’s Meat Locker as a janitor. He collected Christmas Village buildings, trains, train DVD’s, toy trucks, and semis. Jim enjoyed thrift store shopping with his cousin Craig, going on trips with his good friend Adam Kosel, eating rootbeer floats at DQ, cruising around Sanborn on his John Deere lawnmower, spoiling his cat Boots with treats, fishing, and going to train shows. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a Son of the American Legion member of Colburn American Legion Post 286 of Sanborn.
James died on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his home in Sanborn, MN, at the age of 67.
He is survived by his brother Gary (Charlene) Zimmerman of Sleepy Eye, sister Janice Schmidt of Delft, and nieces and nephew - Joy, Jennifer, and Jimmy Schmidt. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Leona Zimmerman and grandparents - Herman and Louise Brown and Dan and Emma Zimmerman.
